brothel creepin'

Brothel creepers. I own two pairs of these babies - both black suede, both double platformed, one pair in my size, the other two smaller. Adored equally, naturally.

Since Armand Basi One's LFW A/W '09 show (featuring creepers by George Cox for the British Boot Company) these bad boys appear to have escaped their Camden lair and infested the manicured streets of West London (even Whisky Mist, albeit on the feet of a certain miss Dellal). Creepers seemingly divide the masses: some say Teddy Boy, others Emily Strange, i say 'stranded emo perched on a giant rock'. It's all gravy.

Either way it appears that creepers are here to stay - Bape and Ambush have joined forces to create a re-buffed version of the old classic in a variety of colours and materials (i.e. pony hair, for the pony step lot). Okay so they're a little nu-rave (who knew Stabilo Boss did leopard print?), but something about them appeals to the 15 year old skater within me. Perhaps it's the low rise back, or that star logo that fills me with the nostalgia of teenage lusting for Tom Delonge/Adam Lazzara/Jordan Pundik (despite his nasalness)?

Whatever it is, these creepers rock because they're not an an attempt at edgy 'grunge glam' styling. They are what they are - pure unadulterated, unpretentious fun. In a californian skate park. With nachos and jokes about faeces and 'your mom'. Far out man. x

(Available from Bape stores worldwide starting this weekend)
